New make-up is fun but overwhelming! When shopping at an Ulta or Sephora type of make-up store I always gravitate toward the make-up artist with layered, dramatic and detailed make-up, particularly eye shadow. Now some might say “Oh no I don’t want to look like her” or “Oh that’s too heavy for me” BUT think about it this way…a make-up artist that has the talent to create detailed, layered eye make-up AND the ability to select and create beautiful palettes is great resource. HELLO she knows what she is doing!
If dramatic and heavy make-up is not your thing – NO PROBLEM! Just tell her you want a natural, subtle, soft, day-time look.
From there once you have a basic palette have her show you how to add onto or use accents to change the look. By doing this you can modify your basic palette and create deeper/stronger more night-time options.
Now when you go back to the store, bring a list of the brands/colors you use. This way the make-up artist can select complimentary options to expand your looks.
OH – a little tip – if you like the make-up artist get his/her name so you can make an appointment with her next time you are shopping!
