Special Occasion or Any Occasion?

July 29, 2010

Another conversation with me (TD) and my friend (GA)…

GA – “So, is it wrong for me to want to start using Chanel Lotion even though it is way too expensive for body lotion?  I got a free sample awhile back that I use on special occasions and every time I put it on, I think I should just break down and use this every day.  But, if I did, would that not make it special anymore?”

TD – “I really believe that the things you love (perfume, lingerie, china, crystal) should not be for special occasions but for any occasion. Why save the things that are special, beautiful and make you feel good? Why not feel good every day?”

What do you think? Special Occasion or Any Occasion?

“Is This Bag Too Trendy For Me?” The Question…

July 29, 2010

So here is a conversation between me (TD) and a friend (GA)…

GA – “Is this Michael Kors bag too trendy?  I know you will shoot straight with me.”

TD – “Not too trendy. I love MK bags – especially the hardware (grommets, studs, tassels, rings, etc) soooo fun. My only question is the shoulder drop. Ideally that shape bag shouldn’t have a shoulder drop longer than the bottom of your bra strap. Compare the bags measurements against your other bags to ensure that will work for you.”

GA – “I just checked.  The top of the bag comes right above my bra strap…which also makes it long enough to be a good shoulder bag (i.e. not up around my arm pit).

Bottom line – when shopping for a bag…do go out of your comfort zone. If you are conservative push your trendy-ness! Accessories are a safe way to add spice and trend to your look. Push your limits and go for a bag that is crazier than you are used to! You will love it.

Spray Tan Crisis!

May 27, 2010

I went to get a spray tan yesterday and when I woke up this am I HAD ORANGE STAINED HANDS – PALMS, IN BETWEEN MY FINGERS AND ALL ACROSS MY KNUCKLES. I LOOKED RIDICULOUS! So after my initial FREAK OUT, and multiple home remidies….I have finally removed it!

First I tried exfoliating…..it started the removal but not close to what I needed….I then moved to lemon juice……nope, that didn’t work! Next peroxide….it helped….but I was still a mess. BLEACH – oh yeah baby – the bleach worked. I pored bleach (pure not diluted) into a small cup and applied it with a Q-tip. I applied it in between my fingers – this was the really orange area – and rubbed it in. I then carefully worked the bleach across my knuckles and over my cuticles and finally my palms. It took about 10 minutes and many applications of bleach to remove, but my hands look great!

WHEW crisis resolved.

Oh and I wish I was calm enough to think about taking a picture of my stained hands….but I was so concerned with getting it off…it didn’t cross my mind until it was fixed.

Sleep on it — questions answered…

May 26, 2010

Here are a few questions asked this am about the Sleep On It – Overnight hair conditioning post…I hope this helps!

Question from Julie: Does it makes your bedding all gross though! Did you sleep in a turban?

Answer – No it didn’t make my pillowcase gross — my hair was dry when I went to bed. I didn’t have to sleep in a turban…but if you hair is wet you will want to.

Question from Karyn: So do you wash your hair again in the morning, or just brush it and go?

Answer: You will need to rinse or re-wash your hair in the am.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
