I don’t feel clean if I don’t shampoo!

November 9, 2010

Yup it’s true – I know that it is better not to shampoo every day….but I really don’t feel clean unless I do. I try every so often to try to shampoo every other day – but even after my shower….my body is clean, but my hair still feels so yucky.

Today is a great example of that. I got up, showered, got all made-up, used my dry shampoo, flat ironed my hair…I got primped and read for the day, and all day I felt greasy and gross!

Now don’t get me wrong – you all know I love dry shampoo – especially in the early am if I need to be out and about and don’t get a shower in before my mommy duties. But the difference there is…..I do eventually get myself into the shower to clean my bod and my hair.

So tell me how often do you shampoo? Is is every other or every third day? Do you feel yucky on the non-shampoo days????

Your Go To Girl at the Make-Up Counter

September 20, 2010

New make-up is fun but overwhelming! When shopping at an Ulta or Sephora type of make-up store I always gravitate toward the make-up artist with layered, dramatic and detailed make-up, particularly eye shadow. Now some might say “Oh no I don’t want to look like her” or “Oh that’s too heavy for me” BUT think about it this way…a make-up artist that has the talent to create detailed, layered eye make-up AND the ability to select and create beautiful palettes is great resource. HELLO she knows what she is doing!

If dramatic and heavy make-up is not your thing – NO PROBLEM! Just tell her you want a natural, subtle, soft, day-time look.

From there once you have a basic palette have her show you how to add onto or use accents to change the look. By doing this you can modify your basic palette and create deeper/stronger more night-time options.

Now when you go back to the store, bring a list of the brands/colors you use. This way the make-up artist can select complimentary options to expand your looks.

OH – a little tip – if you like the make-up artist get his/her name so you can make an appointment with her next time you are shopping!

Spray Tan Crisis!

May 27, 2010

I went to get a spray tan yesterday and when I woke up this am I HAD ORANGE STAINED HANDS – PALMS, IN BETWEEN MY FINGERS AND ALL ACROSS MY KNUCKLES. I LOOKED RIDICULOUS! So after my initial FREAK OUT, and multiple home remidies….I have finally removed it!

First I tried exfoliating…..it started the removal but not close to what I needed….I then moved to lemon juice……nope, that didn’t work! Next peroxide….it helped….but I was still a mess. BLEACH – oh yeah baby – the bleach worked. I pored bleach (pure not diluted) into a small cup and applied it with a Q-tip. I applied it in between my fingers – this was the really orange area – and rubbed it in. I then carefully worked the bleach across my knuckles and over my cuticles and finally my palms. It took about 10 minutes and many applications of bleach to remove, but my hands look great!

WHEW crisis resolved.

Oh and I wish I was calm enough to think about taking a picture of my stained hands….but I was so concerned with getting it off…it didn’t cross my mind until it was fixed.

Sleep on it — questions answered…

May 26, 2010

Here are a few questions asked this am about the Sleep On It – Overnight hair conditioning post…I hope this helps!

Question from Julie: Does it makes your bedding all gross though! Did you sleep in a turban?

Answer – No it didn’t make my pillowcase gross — my hair was dry when I went to bed. I didn’t have to sleep in a turban…but if you hair is wet you will want to.

Question from Karyn: So do you wash your hair again in the morning, or just brush it and go?

Answer: You will need to rinse or re-wash your hair in the am.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Sleep On It!

May 26, 2010

I can’t believe that I have never done this before!!!!!

It is a simple and known fact and I can now say from personal experience that YES it really works. If you put conditioner on your hair and leave it overnight – it really, really makes your hair soft, hydrated and conditioned! I know your probably saying “AAAHHHH YAAAAA” tell me something I didn’t know….but for me this is something I had never tried.

So this is what I did….shampoo, rinse and got all the excess water out. I then applied ENJOY conditioner about 2-3 tbsp and about 1 tbsp of Moroccan oil. I applied it all over and really worked it in so every strand was completely covered. I wrapped my hair in a twist and let it sooooaaaak in! Before bed I used the blow dryer to get out the last bit of drippy water, wrapped it back up in a twist and headed to bed!

So if your like me and you’ve never tried it….just do it! It works!

Because it worked so well, I am now going to make this one of my weekly treatments.

Clarisonic – One of the BEST Tools in my Beauty Arsenal!

May 14, 2010

I have always had skin problems. I started going to the dermatologist when I was in 5th grade. I have been on acne meds for year and years and years. But I found that my acne meds were good for the acne and helping to keep my skin clear but I still had HUGE pores!

About 2 years ago I found the Clarisonic Sonic Skin Cleaner and it transformed my skin.

This is how it works:  You cleanse for 60 seconds. I divide my face into four sections, right cheek, nose/chin, left cheek, forehead. It is on a timer – four 15 second segments. After each 15 seconds/segment it beeps. As it beeps you move it to the next segment. Totally easy. Your face will feel FANTASTIC and you will have that clean, beautiful dewy look!

I leave mine in my shower – it can get wet. I don’t ever submerge it in water but I rinse it under the shower nozzle. You can use any facial cleanser with it. I use my prescription facial wash with mine.

Here are some of its benefits:

  • Removes 6x more make-up & is twice as effective as regular facing cleaning!
  • Loosens dirt and oil to clear your pores!!
  • Leaves skin soft and smooth!!!
  • Reduces oily area, dry patches and zits!!!!
  • Reduces the size and appearance of pores!!!!!!   IT REALLY DOES!

There are a couple of models to choose from. I have the classic. They even have one for face and body. Prices range from $149 – $225.

Spring into spring with beautiful, glowing skin.

Glowing? No Not Pregnant…

May 3, 2010

OOOOOHHHHHH so luxurious! It’s the incredible skin you will have from using the bella lucce’ cranberry-yuzu sugar scrub! It smells so delicious and your skin – aaahhh – like butter. The creamy scrub starts off as an exfoliant (sugar not salt! – so no stinging). As you rub, it turns into a lotion, leaving your skins soft, smooth and supple. Your skin will look fresh, clean and radiant.

If you live in the Southlake, TX area you can get bella Lucce at Pure Bliss.

Eyes – Go Light, Be Gentle!

April 22, 2010

Ladies when taking care of or camouflaging blips and blops under your eyes – please, please – go light and be gentle. The best way to do this is to use your ring finger for applying any creams or consealers. This area is very delicate and it is critical that you don’t pull or stretch the skin. The more you take of this supple, delicate skin the better it will look year after year!

Magnifying Mirror – Your Best Friend!

April 13, 2010

For those of you that DON’T have a magnifying mirror…you need one! It is one of the key items for perfect eye brows. You can shape and trim with precision. There is nothing better than seeing what you’re doing. And for bows girlies – you really can afford to make a mistake!

Oh and that mirror is GREAT for seeing all those disgusting blackheads that need to be removed – oh yuck – but boy oh boy it really helps to see those suckers!

So happy plucking & picking!
